Visiting Assistant Professor of Chinese Language and Literature


Mills College, in Oakland, CA, seeks applications for a three-year position as Visiting Assistant Professor of Chinese Language and Literature beginning in the 2012-2013 academic year. Specialization is open. Excellent language teaching credentials and the ability to teach beginning through advanced Mandarin Chinese are required. The successful candidate should have native or near native fluency in Chinese and English. This is the inaugural position in the Chinese program at Mills and its occupant must be entrepreneurial and able to work with faculty members in other modern language programs to develop a curriculum. PhD in hand or near completion is strongly preferred. The position will be responsible for teaching five courses per year, most of which will be language instruction, but at least one literature course will be taught in English in the candidate’s field of expertise. Candidate review will begin on February 15 and continue until the position is filled.
