Head of School search – Chinese American International School, San Francisco, CA
Founded in 1981 by visionary leaders and educators as the first
bilingual, bicultural school of its kind in the United States, Chinese
American International School (
is a coeducational day school in downtown San Francisco, California
enrolling 440 students in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 8. School days
are divided between instruction in English and Chinese, leading
students to achieve bilingual mastery at an early age. The faculty of
71 full- and part-time teachers is strong and deeply committed to the
students in their care, and includes a mix of native speakers of
English and Mandarin. Students are well known inside and outside the
school as talented, highly motivated young scholars. The School is in
excellent financial shape, and boasts a rich array of auxiliary
programs.  CAIS is accredited and holds memberships in the California
Association of Independent Schools and the Western Association of
Schools and Colleges.

The Trustees of Chinese American International School seek an
experienced educational leader, familiar with bilingual education and
preferably conversant in Mandarin for this remarkable and exciting
position. It is important that the Head of School understand the unique
culture of the School and make a commitment to the School’s mission as
a leading Pre-K through Grade 8 bilingual, bicultural school.

The position starts July 1, 2010 and applications should be submitted
