Faculty in Chinese Language and Culture at Bard High School Early College (BHSEC) Newark


Bard High School Early College (BHSEC) Newark, a partnership between Bard College and the Newark Public Schools in Newark, NJ, invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in Chinese Language and Culture, beginning September 2017. BHSEC Newark seeks candidates able to teach Chinese language at all levels, as well as content courses in Chinese culture and/or East Asian or world history.  BHSEC Newark is the first and currently the only high school in the Newark Public Schools to offer Chinese language, and approximately half of our students are enrolled in Chinese classes.

The successful applicant for this position must be committed to teaching classes at both the high school and college levels. In addition, candidates will be expected to participate fully in the life of the school, including student advising, club advising, and committee service.  M.A. and college teaching experience required; Ph.D., high school teaching experience, and/or experience working with youth desirable.  Work authorization in the United States required for all BHSEC Newark faculty positions.
