Chinese lecturer at UC Berkeley



The Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at the University of California, Berkeley, has one-year openings for one to two lecturers in Chinese language, with the possibility of extension. Appointment up to 100% time depending on instructional needs and budgetary resources, effective July 1, 2013. Minimum annual salary is $45,975. Responsibilities include: co-teaching several sections of first-year, second-year, or third-year Chinese language or a combination thereof; supervising Graduate Student Instructors; compiling teaching materials. Requirements: native or near-native fluency in Chinese; good command of English; minimum degree M.A. by date of hire in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition, or equivalent; experience in teaching Chinese and ability to teach different levels of Chinese at the college level; experience with computer-assisted instruction, online course, and Chinese language instructional software is highly desirable.
