Johns Hopkins University: Lecturer in Chinese


The Language Teaching Center at Johns Hopkins
University invites applications for a full-time Lecturer in Chinese for
the academic year 2010-2011, pending funding approval.

position is renewable annually based on performance, need, and funding.
Responsibilities of the successful candidate may include teaching all
levels of Mandarin Chinese. Minimum qualifications include an M.A. in
Chinese linguistics and pedagogy, applied linguistics, or related
fields; native or near-native fluency in Chinese and English;
experience in teaching Chinese as a foreign language at the university
level; as well as strong computer literacy.

Interested candidates should send the following:
1.      Letter of application including statement of teaching philosophy
2.      Curriculum Vitae
3.      Three references with e-mail addresses
4.      A DVD video recording of the applicant in actual teaching (please
include an introduction in Chinese at the beginning of the DVD)
5.      A sample syllabus with lessons as well as the names of textbooks used
in teaching
