Why learning to write Chinese is a waste of time

Why learning to write Chinese is a waste of time。

I completely agree with the author's point of view. Students are now learning Chinese language to communicate with the vast number of native Chinese speakers for academic discussion, international business purpose, or personal interest. In all aspects, writing with a pen on paper is much less common now a days. As a result, a teacher requiring his or her students to learn to write Chinese characters in repetition only terminates their interest in learning the language.

Also because the complicity of Chinese characters, it takes a long time for students to be able to master the skill. Therefore, I strongly suggest all Chinese teachers not to ask your students to write Chinese characters as homework assignment. Instead, reconizing the characters and working on reading comprehension are much more practical and important skills for them.
