International School of Denver is an independent school that teaches the curricula and fulfills the highest educational standards of the United States, China, France and Spain by offering early immersion bilingual international education, accredited by participating governments, in order to prepare its students to thrive in a diverse and competitive global society. The middle school is accredited as a prestigious International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme. Staff and Faculty members are the cornerstone of our school. Duties & Responsibilities:

   Align with the ISD Mission, Vision, Values and Beliefs and be a proactive advocate for the school.
   Assist target language students in their language acquisition as needed, across all grades.
   Participate fully in the annual ISD Teacher Reflection, Evaluation and Growth Process.
       Actively seek opportunities for Professional Development (PD) in order to keep up to date with current best practice.
       Attend all PD workshops and training as organized by the school to support the School Strategic Plan.
       Be prepared to share best practice with colleagues through opportunities such as team or co-teaching, peer observations, modeling and assisting with PD workshops.

Support and Development:

   Assess and respond to the day-to-day needs of the program– students and staff
   Use Program Coordinator release time and other opportunities to have regular contact with all students across the program in order to be able to support staff and students in an academic role
   Facilitate meetings associated with program concerns relating to student performance and liaise with the Student Support Team, as appropriate and necessary.
   Be available to meet with and support the Homeroom/ Lead Teachers, including the possible need for parent follow up meetings.
   Ensure relevant, consistent and effective communication to parents within the program regarding curriculum, learning and teaching.
   Ensure all program members are involved in discussions pertaining to the program and a consensus reached by the majority as appropriate.
   Establish and maintain a culture of peer coaching/mentoring and collaboration system with team members supporting colleagues in their professional growth.
   Assist the Head of School in the recruitment of new faculty and in decisions regarding retention and renewal of contracts.
   Establish clear support mechanisms for members of the team for induction and exit.
   Over-see and support any substitute teachers assigned to the program
   Liaise regularly with the Deputy Head/ Director of Learning and the Head of School to ensure effective and open communication.

Leadership and Management

   Act as the point person/ program liaison with appropriate external contacts (e.g. national ministries and agencies for France, Spain or China)
   Ensure that all regulations and procedures set by the external agencies concerning the program are adhered to properly
   Prepare and submit documentation required for accreditation in conjunction with Head of School and relevant administrative Directors
   Establish/maintain links with other international immersion schools in the region
   As a Middle Leader, help manage school change from the program perspective and support team members as new initiatives are implemented according to the Annual Action Plan and the ISD Strategic Plan

   Be a proactive member of the Learning Leadership Team (LLT) that acts as a sounding board for the Head of School and represent the team in school-wide discussion and decision-making.
   Meet regularly with other program coordinators leaders to discuss relevant issues to promote consistency, continuity and progression within the school as appropriate.
   Lead the Program Team in all matters, establishing team agreements with regards to meetings, scheduling, communication, portfolios, assessment, homework, parent communication, displays and resources as per ISD established guidelines
   Coordinate team meetings ensuring effective communication channels are established.
   Co-ordinate schedules and special events particular to the program
   Coordinate the ordering of books, equipment and supplies from the approved budget.
   Track all expenditure and ensure the team keeps within the budget.
   Check all program classrooms are adequately and appropriately equipped and inventories are completed annually.
   Ensure all program resources are up to date, stored and shared effectively.

Curriculum, Teaching and Learning

   Liaise on a regular basis with the Deputy Head/ Director of Learning to ensure effective communication and effective joint planning sessions.
   Disseminate information from the DH/DoL to the program team as necessary.
   Support and develop teaching team members to ensure that there is a consistent approach to data-driven curriculum planning, delivery and assessment across the program.
   Work in conjunction with the DH/ DoL to ensure that planners and unit work are completed, reviewed and filed.
   Support and develop teaching team members to ensure differentiated approaches to learning and best pedagogical practices are in use effectively in all program classrooms in line with the agreed ISD Learning principles and ensure that regular and effective liaison takes place between all team members and Student Support specialists.
   Supervise all team members using the ISD Teacher Reflection, Evaluation and Growth process and report all outcomes to the DH/ DoL and HoS.
   Attend to any appropriate task as delegated by the Deputy Head/ Director of Learning and/ or Head of School


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

   Native use of the target language (French, Spanish or Mandarin)
   Fluent in English with good verbal and written communication skills
   Qualified teacher status with experience teaching the target language curriculum
   Knowledge of curricula and methodology at ISD
   Knowledge of and proficiency in age-appropriate teaching methods
   Ability to demonstrate analytical and problem‐solving skills
   Computer literacy (specifically in Microsoft Office/Outlook, Google and the Internet)
   Ability to work well either alone or as part of a team, and provide direction to others when needed.
   Ability to exercise sound judgment.

Education/Experience:

   Bachelors or Masters degree or equivalent in education with recognized teaching credentials.
   Minimum of two years teaching experience of the subjects in Elementary or Middle School as appropriate
   Must meet State of Colorado requirements.

Physical Demands:

   Regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds
   Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
   While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee may occasionally be required to bend, stoop or kneel.
