The Department of Asian and Near Eastern Languages at Brigham Young University invites applications for a continuing faculty status (tenure) track position in Chinese language, literature and culture at the assistant professor level beginning Fall 2014. Applicants should be able to teach courses in advanced Chinese language, literature and culture and have in hand by start date a Ph.D. in Chinese language, literature or a related field. Native or near-native proficiency in both English and Chinese is required. The successful candidate will be able to teach advanced language, literature and culture classes in Chinese and in translation; perform research (area of specialization open); engage in program building, co-curricular activities and other service responsibilities; and demonstrate commitment to an assessment-based pedagogy. The candidate must have a proven commitment to undergraduate language and literature instruction. Experience teaching advanced Chinese language courses at the college level is preferred.
