Chinese Teaching Position at Forest Ridge School of the Sacred Heart

Position Available: Middle School Mandarin Teacher (Part-time)

Responsibilities: A zero-period, Mandarin I International Language class is being introduced to the middle school International Language choices for 7th grade students in September, 2007. The class will meet three mornings a week from 7:40-8:20am. This part-time position is a .12 FTE. Middle school International Language classes are
taught across two years with course IA taught in the 7th grade and course IB taught in the 8th grade. When students enter high school, they are prepared for high school level II in their chosen language.

Because Mandarin is being introduced to the curriculum as a zero-period option for the first time, the successful candidate will be responsible for working closely with the middle school Curriculum Coordinator to determine appropriate textbooks and materials for Level I Mandarin.

All middle school faculty members work in close collaboration with the middle school team structure. This commitment to the philosophy of Middle Level Education is a shared value among middle school teachers.

Qualifications: The successful candidate will have the expertise to teach Level One of high school Mandarin. In addition, the candidate will be passionate about middle level education, have proven success at working with adolescents and place a high value on a collaborative, supportive and enriching environment for both students
