Carnegie Mellon University seeks Lecturer in Chinese


The Department of Modern Languages invites applications for a
position in the Teaching track, a three-year renewable position as
Lecturer in Chinese beginning in Aug. 2008. Preference will be given
to candidates who have native speaker level proficiency in Chinese,
expertise in culture-driven, content-based, communicatively-oriented
instruction, a doctorate in an appropriate area of Chinese Studies,
and a record of outstanding teaching. Salary is commensurate with
qualifications. The Teaching track at Carnegie mellon is a
professional track with provision for retnetion and promotion to
Associate Teaching Professor and Teaching Professor based upon
pedagogical excellence, leadership in curriculum development, and
contributions to the profession.

Applicants should send a letter of application (indicating, among
other things, whether they plan to attend the ACTFL meeting in San
Antonio, or the MLA meeting in Chicago), resume, statements of
teaching, research, and curricular interests, and three (3) letters
of recommendation (which may be included with the packet or sent
directly by referees). representative publications may also be included.
