Assistant professor in Chinese language and literature at Bard College

The Division of Languages invites applications for a full-time,
tenure-line position at the rank of assistant professor in Chinese
language and literature, to begin in fall 2009. The position requires a
vigorous and active commitment to scholarship as well as a lively
interest in undergraduate teaching at a small liberal arts college with
an intellectually curious, sophisticated student body. Candidates
should have completed the Ph.D. and have primary training in Chinese
literature. Ability to teach Chinese language at all levels and Chinese
literature and culture both in the original and in translation is
expected. A record of successful teaching at an American college or
university is highly desirable. Native or near-native fluency in
Mandarin Chinese required. Bard is a private liberal arts college with
approximately 1,800 students, located 90 miles north of New York City
on the Hudson River.
