Maternity Leave Position: Mandarin Chinese Fall 2008

The Position:
The Park School of Baltimore anticipates a maternity leave position for
a teacher of Mandarin Chinese from October 1 to mid-December 2008. This
half-time position will involve teaching one section of Mandarin I and
one section of Mandarin II in the Upper School.  Since classes occur on
a rotating ten-day schedule, availability during the full school day
(8:30 - 3:00) throughout the week is essential.

Qualifications:
-- near-native fluency in Mandarin Chinese
-- experience in teaching American high school students strongly preferred

Context:
Last year, Park added Mandarin as a second language option, beginning
in tenth grade. Full course materials, including syllabus and lesson
plans developed by our current teacher, are available for both Mandarin
I and II.

SALARY
Park salaries for part-time positions are highly competitive. We pay a
proportion of full-time salary, based on experience, rather than paying
part-time faculty on a lower scale.
