2008 Assistant Professor in Chinese at Wofford College, Spartanburg, SC



The Department of Foreign Languages at Wofford College invites
applications for a tenure-track position beginning in fall 2009 for
Assistant Professor in Chinese Studies.  Applicants should have a Ph.D.
in hand by time of appointment in the field of Chinese literature,
cultural studies, linguistics, or related subjects, and native or
near-native fluency in Chinese and English.  Preference will be given
to candidates who demonstrate ability and commitment to teach Chinese
language at all levels of an undergraduate curriculum in the USA.
Specific responsibilities include teaching three courses per semester
as well as collaborating with other faculty in the development of the
major in Chinese and the minor in Chinese Studies.  Two of the three
courses are in Chinese language and the other one is in
literature/culture in translation in the candidate's area of
specialization.  Please send letters of application, CV, statement of

letter addressing the candidate's performance in the classroom, and
