Associate or Full Professor of Chinese

The School of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures (SLLC) at the
University of Maryland invites applications for a tenured Associate or
Full Professor position beginning August 2009 for a specialist in
Chinese language. We seek candidates with strong publication records,
demonstrated potential in research and teaching, and native or
near-native fluency in Chinese and English. Responsibilities will
include research, teaching undergraduate courses in Chinese, student
advising, and departmental service. Applicants will be expected to have
an established research program and strong interest and expertise in
language teaching, and be willing to assume a leadership role in the
Chinese program and elsewhere in the SLLC. For best consideration, by
October 30, 2008, candidates should submit a letter of application,
specifying the rank being applied for, a CV, representative
publications, a short description of current research plans, and
